For fast relief use aloe gel  to soothe and heal sunburned skin or other miner burns.
Aloes are safe to use externally, but if you need to take anything internally then I suggest you use only the pure gel of  Aloe ferox or Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis) or buy  reputable products.
Happiness goes hand in hand with good health of body and mind.  Relax the mind and lower stress with gardening even if only in a few pots
Relax.  Take it lying down.  Start with toe wiggle-ups.    Then wiggle up until the whole body wiggles and repeat with a good long stretch of each joint.  Stretching circulates the blood in the joints.   It is important.  Now go and get your spade and head for the garden.

Aloes are known for their medicinal qualities
Aloe Vera and Aloe ferox are the best known medicinal aloes, however most aloes can safely be used externally. aloe.vera.gel.jpg (61082 bytes)
For internal use, only the gel of  Aloe Vera and Aloe ferox should be used by the novice.
The bitter yellow exude originating from the green outer cells, can be used for its purgative effects, however it is not recommended as there are better and safer laxatives available.
Cut the leaf in portions and peel off the green outer part.
The gel is  in the translucent leaf pulp. It is not bitter, in fact it is near to tasteless with only a slight "fresh green" taste.

Fresh aloe gel taken in small doses,  is  an excellent   immune system builder
For good health :-
Cut small approximate 1 cm cubes and swallow a cube 3-4 times daily,  or    liquidize the gel and mix it into drinks.
Remember not to take the sap from the green part of the leaf.   Give the gel a quick rinse under running water to remove any sap.  A few drops of sap will not harm but it tastes awful.

A beautiful skin
Use the fresh gel, for a face mask - you will be amazed at the result.
Cut a piece off the leaf.  Remove the green skin and liquidize the clear gel for 2-3 applications.  Keep the portion not used in a closed container in a refrigerator, but it is better to freeze the gel in small blocks.   Defrost before use.
Apply to the face.  It gives a cool fresh feeling and dries to form a silky layer. It can be rinsed in an hour or leave it on the skin overnight.    The gel may be left on the face during the day it will protect against drying wind and the sun.

recipe: aloe-cream   No preservatives added

Mix one and a half cup of  cream to one half a cup gel.  A few drops of scented oil can be added.
Refill a small airtight container for use an keep the rest of the gel-cream in an airtight container inside the fridge.

Against burns
Keep frozen gel in the freezer for emegancies.  Defrost and it is ready to use on  minor burns and as a skin conditioner after sunburn.

It is a wrong conception that something is good because it is derived from plants.
The goodness of the plant may be in combination with substances that are not good for your health when taken in wrong doses.
Herbs can cause problems with other herbs, dietary supplements, or medications.
Always tell your doctor  if you are taking any herbal product.

Exercising the body and soul, is the best way to good health.
Movement in any form will improve blood circulation and  it will relax the nerves.
Gardening is a pleasure that takes the mind off personal problems and it strengthens the body.
If your garden is small, get some extra movement by walking down the street and looking at the neighbor's gardens.

This is a photo of the seeds of the beautiful large type of Dandelion growing in South Africa.  It is lovely as an ornament especially at xmas but the best use of this plant is for medicinal purposes   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicinal_properties_of_dandelion
Photo December 2009. It took about 4 hours for the seed-ball to open.   The ball is slightly larger than the size of a tennis ball. I sprinkled a small amount of glitter over it to add to the festive feeling.
It is now 17 January 2010 the seed-balls are still as beautiful.  Happy new year to you.
