The hardy Cotyledons bloom freely with flowers which are popular with nectar loving birds. The plants are easy to grow in any type of soil and just as easy to propagate.

The leaves are  more or less covered in a waxy substance which can change the bright green (without wax) color to a blue-green or even a nearly white color in some species.  The shape of the leaves differ from spoon shaped, long, cylindrical to nearly circular. Add to that the color of the flowers which can be   pale to bright shades of orange, red or pink, with a touch of green or yellow in some species.

The garden plants will be mainly hybrids of different Cotyledon species.   The sugarbirds are the main pollinators and they can fly far and wide with the pollen. It is not important to know the scientific data as there is no need to read up on growing or cultivating them. The only maintenance is to cut away where the plants grow too large.

All these variations can change any garden into a beautiful scene with practically no trouble to create or to maintain.
